Vikings can't dig out of early hole against Carthage

    KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Lawrence University soccer team fell behind early in the contest Wednesday, and Carthage College went on to a 5-0 victory at Art Keller Field.
    Carthage scored five times on just 12 shots and built a 4-0 lead at the half. The Firebirds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute and scored 2:22 later to push the edge to 2-0. Carthage added goals in the 26th and 40th minute to build the lead to 4-0.
    The Firebirds (4-1-1) added a tally in the 73rd minute to complete the scoring.
    Two Carthage goalies combined to make three saves for the shutout. Rookie goalkeeper Ethan Uribe had one save for the Vikings (1-5-0).
    Lawrence returns to action on Friday when the Vikings host Finlandia University.
