APPLETON, Wis. --
Konstantinos Fardellas scored four times Friday as the Lawrence University men's soccer team routed Finlandia University 6-1 in a nonconference match on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Fardellas, a rookie forward, scored three goals in the opening half and picked up an assist before halftime. He then tacked on a fourth goal in the second half.
It didn't take long for Lawrence (2-5-0) to get on the board as Fardellas pounded the ball past Finlandia goalkeeper Noah Raisanen just 19 seconds into the match. Lawrence quickly made it 2-0 as Fardellas found
Rodrigo Angulo Molina with a cross, and Molina found the back of the net with just 43 seconds gone in the contest.
Molina returned the favor at the 8:14 mark as he fed Fardellas, who scored to give Lawrence a 3-0 advantage.
The flurry of goals kept coming as Fardellas completed the hat trick at the 17:33 mark for a 4-0 lead. Lawrence's
Jack Morrissey then scored at the 23:23 mark to give the Vikings a 5-0 edge.
Finlandia (2-5-0) trimmed the margin to 5-1 with a goal in the 36th minute, but that's as close as the Lions would get. Fardellas accounted for the only scoring in the second half when he picked up his fourth goal at 71:26.
Lawrence goalkeeper
Hunter Lanton played the first 66 minutes and made five saves to pick up the win.
Ethan Uribe completed the game for Lawrence and made one save. Raisanen made nine saves for Finlandia.
Lawrence posted a 31-15 edge in shots for the game.
The Vikings return to action on Monday when Lawrence hosts Northland College in a nonconference game.
