Fardellas scores in OT as Vikings nip Foresters

    LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Konstantinos Fardellas scored in overtime Saturday to give the Lawrence University men's soccer team a 1-0 Midwest Conference victory over Lake Forest College at Farwell Field.
    After 90 scoreless minutes, it was Fardellas, the rookie forward from Greece, who scored at 105:43 to end the game and deliver the victory.
    The winning play started with the Vikings taking the ball and starting a counterattack. Fardellas took on a pair of Lake Forest defenders, slipped through a seam and blasted the ball past goalkeeper Syzmon Mocarski.
    Lawrence goalkeeper Hunter Lanton made two saves to earn the shutout. Mocarski also had two saves for the Foresters.
    Lawrence earned its first win over Lake Forest since a 1-0 victory in 2010. The Vikings improved to 4-5-0 and 1-0-0 in the conference. Lake Forest, which has a played a murderer's row of a nonconference schedule, fell to 0-9-1, 0-1-0 in the league.
