PLYMOUTH, Wis. --
Cambrie Rickard scored her first two collegiate goals Friday to lead the Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 3-1 nonconference victory over Lakeland University at Taylor Field.
Rickard, a first-year player, scored in the opening half and then added a goal early in the second half for the Vikings, who improved to 1-1-0 on the season.
Samantha Tolu also scored her first goal of the season, and that proved to be the game-winner.
 Â
Sarah Yochem made three saves to earn the victory for Lawrence, and Haley Rich stopped 10 shots for the Muskies.
Lawrence grabbed the lead at the 5:03 mark when Lakeland was whistled for a foul in the penalty box. Rickard converted the ensuing penalty kick for her first goal and a 1-0 lead. It stayed that way until Lakeland tied it with 2:42 left in the opening half after converting on a scramble in front of the Lawrence net.
The Vikings wasted little time in grabbing the lead back early in the second half. Tolu took a pass from Rickard and hammered one home from about 15 yards out for a 2-1 Lawrence lead just 3:27 into the second half.
Lawrence quickly made it 3-1 when Rickard scored off a pass from
Madi Jones less than two minutes later. It was the first career assist for Jones, another first-year player for the Vikings.
Lawrence returns to action Sunday when the Vikings travel to Wisconsin Lutheran College.
