Vikings edge Wisconsin Lutheran in OT

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Madi Jones scored in the second overtime Sunday to lift the Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-1 nonconference victory over Wisconsin Lutheran College at Warrior Soccer Field.
The teams were less than a minute into the second overtime when Lawrence's Natalie Linebarger lined up for a corner kick. Her kick found the head of teammate Cambrie Rickard, who redirected the ball to the ground. Madi Jones then fired at the net and scored her first collegiate goal at the 100:53 mark to win it.
Jones' ball was the only shot for the Vikings in the overtime. Wisconsin Lutheran had two shots in overtime and had a 15-8 edge in shots for the match.
Lawrence goalkeeper Sarah Yochem made seven saves and picked up the victory. Sierra Kannas made two saves and took the loss.
Wisconsin Lutheran jumped on top just 1:30 into the first half on a goal by Teyah Palmer. Lawrence evened the score at 1-1 at the 25:30 mark when Cambrie Rickard scored her third goal of the season off a pass from Emma Vasconez.
It took another 75 minutes of scoreless play before Jones ended it in the 101st minute.
Lawrence (2-1-0) returns to action on Wednesday when the Vikings host Marian University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
