JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Lawrence University football team ran into a tough Illinois College defense Saturday and lost 57-0 to the Blueboys in a Midwest Conference game at England Field.
Lawrence (0-6, 0-5 MWC) was limited to 110 yards of offense on 60 plays. Illinois College (2-4, 1-4) ran the ball effectively and got a quality game from quarterback Elijah Pollice to pull away in the second quarter.
  Lawrence quarterback
Jack Sweeney was limited to 10-for-29 passing for 80 yards. Sweeney also ran 16 times for 42 yards and was sacked twice.
Logan Olson had three catches for 33 yards to lead Lawrence receivers.
 Â
Jon Pasquarello led the Lawrence defense with 11 tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks.
KJ Sweeney added seven tackles and also has 2.0 TFLs and a forced fumble.
Lawrence's best drive of the first half pushed all the way to the Illinois College eight yard line, but the Vikings were stopped on fourth down. Sweeney connected with Olson on a pass completion on the play, but Olson was tackled at the six to force a turnover on downs.
Illinois College led 9-0 after the opening quarter, but the Blueboys scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to grab a 37-0 advantage at halftime. The Blueboys tacked on two touchdowns, including a special teams score, in the third quarter and added the final score in the fourth quarter.
Lawrence is back on the road again next Saturday when the Vikings travel to Beloit College. Â
