APPLETON, Wis. -- A penalty kick was the only goal Saturday in Lawrence University's 1-0 Midwest Conference setback to Grinnell College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Grinnell was awarded a penalty kick in the 35th minute on an apparent handball in the box. Dylan Maddux converted the penalty kick for the game's only score.
Both teams had multiple quality scoring chances. Lawrence (2-9-3, 1-3-1 MWC) had the first opportunity when
Konstantinos Fardellas' shot was cleared away just before it was going to cross the goal line. Grinnell (8-4-1, 5-0-1) had two shots hit the crossbar and bound away.
Grinnell had a 12-6 edge in shots for the match.
  Lawrence goalkeeper
Nason Lancina finished with seven saves, and Carter Benson made three saves for the Pioneers.
