APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swimming and diving teams opened the season with a sweep of Carroll University on Saturday at Boldt Natatorium.
  The Lawrence women won 124-87, and the Lawrence men posted a 115-80 victory.
  On the women's side, Mattie Letendre and Olivia Szabo Gartner were both double winners for the Vikings.Â
    Letendre won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.35 and grabbed the top spot in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.49. Szabo Gartner won the 1,000 freestyle in 12:32.20, and she grabbed first in the 500 freestyle in 6:03.24.
  Lawrence's Irina Starostin took first in the 50 freestyle in 26.73 seconds, and Stella Macfarlane was the winner in the 200 individual medley in 2:25.21. Lawrence's 200 medley relay team of Letendre, Macfarlane, Starostin and Ella Lee took first in 2:00.01.

Keegan Mencke and
Leighton Frater both won a pair of events for the Lawrence men.Â
    Mencke grabbed first in the 200 individual medley in 2:08.42 and took the top spot in the 500 freestyle in 5:20.62. Frater took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.72 and took the top spot in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.04.

Davis Wukovits swam to first in the 100 freestyle in 51.31 seconds for the Vikings, and
Michael Thorson swam to the win in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:10.78.
    Lawrence swept the diving as
Jackson Bertman won the men's 1-meter competition with a score of 225.45, and Chloe VandeHey took first on the women's 1-meter board with a score of 121.80. Bertman also grabbed first on the 3-meter board with a score of 195.15.
