Lawrence takes down Prairie Fire

GALESBURG, Ill. -- Cambrie Rickard scored both goals Saturday as the Lawrence University women's soccer team knocked off defending Midwest Conference champion Knox College at Jorge Prats Field.
Rickard scored in the seventh minute and added another goal in the 28th minute for the Vikings (6-5-0, 2-1-0 MWC).
Lawrence goalkeeper Sarah Yochem made three saves to pick up the shutout. Carina Escobar made one save for Knox (1-9-1, 1-2-1).
The Vikings were threatening early in the match, and Paige Ference found Rickard just wide of the net. Rickard fired the ball past Escobar at the 6:13 mark for a 1-0 lead.
Lawrence got another great scoring chance later in the first half when Madi Jones was fouled in the Knox penalty box. Rickard took the ensuing penalty kick and scored at the 27:44 mark for a 2-0 advantage.
That was all the offense the Vikings would need as Knox was limited to just five shots for the match.
