Letendre, Bertman lead Vikings against St. Norbert

Lawrence's Michael Thorson cruised to victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
    APPLETON, Wis. -- Mattie Letendre and Jackson Bertman won two events apiece on Friday as the Lawrence University swimming and diving teams faced St. Norbert College at Boldt Natatorium.
    The St. Norbert women topped Lawrence 153-62, and the St. Norbert men downed the Vikings 163-56.
    Letendre swam to victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.80 seconds. She also took the top spot in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.07. 
    Irina Starostin grabbed the victory in the 200 freestyle for the Vikings with a time of 2:06.98. Diver Chloe Vandehey was Lawrence's other winner as she took the 1-meter competition with a score of 154.40 points.
    On the men's side, Bertman swept the diving competition. He was the winner on the 1-meter board with a score of 252.55 points. Bertman also won on the 3-meter board with a score of 224.30.
    Michael Thorson was the other winner for the Vikings as he rolled to a 36-second win in the 1,000 freestyle. Thorson posted a time of 10:51.50 as he swam away from the field.
    Lawrence returns to action on Nov. 12 when the Vikings host the Gene Davis Invitational.
