Lawrence rally comes up short against Britons

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team rallied in the second half Saturday but came up short in a 68-60 nonconference loss to Albion College at the St. Andrews Products Classic.
The Vikings endured a cold shooting night at the MTI Center on the campus of Trine University. Lawrence shot just 36.5 percent (19-52), including 30 percent (6-20) from beyond the 3-point line. Lawrence also had a rough night at the foul line and hit only 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) on free throws.
Adnan Sarancic led Lawrence with a double-double of 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Elliot Jung paced the Vikings with 15 points abd added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Johnny Semany chipped in eight points and two assists for the Vikings (5-7), and Parker Prahl and Matthew Kaznikov had seven points apiece. Prahl also collected six rebounds.
Lawrence trailed by double digits just 6:29 into the game, but the Vikings battled back. Lawrence trimmed the lead to 24-21 on a pair of Jung free throws with 2:12 remaining in the first half. The Britons went on a 7-2 run to finish the half and led 31-23 at the break.
Albion built its lead to as many as 13 points at 54-41 when the Vikings began clawing back into it. Jung started an 11-2 Lawrence run with a pair of free throws, and Ryne Panzer followed with a layup to cut the lead to 54-45.
After an Albion basket, Nick Hesch buried a 3-pointer for the Vikings to cut the lead to 56-48. Jung then scored on back-to-back layups to trim the margin to 56-52 with 7:21 remaining.
The Britons pushed the lead back to eight, but a 3-pointer from Quinn Scott and a free throw from Hesch with 1:54 left trimmed the margin to 62-58 with 1:07 left. Albion's Jonathan Armstead-Wilkerson then hit a 3-pointer to give the Britons a 65-58 lead.
Prahl countered with a layup for the Vikings, who were forced to foul. Albion hit one free throw with 30 seconds left for a 66-60 lead, but the Vikings couldn't convert a pair of shots on their next possession. Albion made a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left to seal the victory.
Khy Winston paced Albion (3-6) with 21 points.
Lawrence faces host Trine in a 2 p.m. Eastern game on Sunday.
