GALESBURG, Ill. -- Had Green Bay Packers play-by-play man Wayne Larrivee been on the call, he would have exclaimed, "And there is your dagger!"
 Â
Ryne Panzer hit a cold-blooded 3-pointer with under a minute left Wednesday to propel the Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 68-58 Midwest Conference victory over Knox College at Memorial Gymnasium.
 Â
Adnan Sarancic led the Vikings (5-4, 2-1 MWC) with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds to go with three blocks and two assists.
Matthew Kaznikov scored a game-high 19 points and added five rebounds for the Vikings.
 Â
Johnny Semany added 12 points, two assists and two steals for Lawrence.
Sean Gallery led Knox (2-7, 0-2) with 19 points and seven rebounds.
The Vikings led early but Knox surged to a double-digit lead late in the first half. Lawrence scored the final six points of the half with a layup from Semany and two from Sarancic to trim the margin to just 32-28 at the break.
The Prairie Fire continued to lead until
Nick Hesch hit a 3-pointer with 8:31 left to give Lawrence a 48-46 edge. Semany then scored on a layup and hit a 3-pointer to complete an 8-0 Lawrence run for a 53-48 lead. With the Vikings struggling a bit from the free throw line, Knox closed to 60-56 on Cole Andrews' layup with 1:20 left.Â
On the ensuing possession, Sarancic found Panzer in the right corner, and the first-year guard buried a 3-pointer to give the Vikings a 63-56 lead with 46 seconds left. It was one of just four 3-pointers on the night for the Vikings, who went 4-for-19 from beyond the arc. Panzer finished with six points, four steals and three assists on the night.
After Knox's Isaiah Lockett missed a jumper, the Prairie Fire was forced to foul. Semany went 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final 31 seconds to seal the victory.
As much as the Vikings struggled from long distance at Knox, they were amazingly effective inside the arc. Lawrence shot 22-of-35 (62.9 percent) on its two-point attempts. Lawrence shot 48.1 percent for the game and limited Knox to 40.4 percent while picking up six blocks and eight steals.
Lawrence returns home on Saturday to face Illinois College in a Midwest Conference game.
