PEORIA, Ill. -- The Lawrence University softball team smashed a pair of homers Thursday but dropped a 13-7 nonconference decision to Augustana (Ill.) College at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
    Jordan Wallin-Swanson belted her first career homer for the Vikings, and Mikayla Jeneske also picked up a round-tripper against Augustana.
    Lawrence grabbed the lead twice, but Augustana rallied to take it back both times, the first time in the third inning and again in the fourth.
    Lawrence scored twice in the top of the first when Mattigan Haller started the rally with a hit batsman. Wallin-Swanson followed with a two-run blast to left, and the Vikings led 2-0.
    Augustana struck for two runs in the bottom of the first to tie it and scored three times in the third to grab a 5-2 lead.
    Lawrence got to relief pitcher Amanda Page in top of the fourth to retake the lead. With two outs, Chapin Grumhaus singled to start the rally. After Mary Boyle walked, Alyssa Sorensen reached on an error to score Grumhaus and trim the lead to 5-3. 
    Jeneske then launched a three-run shot to put the Vikings up 6-5.
    Augustana struck back in the bottom half of the inning with six runs on five hits to take an 11-6 lead. Augustana added single runs in the fifth and sixth to close out the scoring.
    Shaye Arwood tossed 3.1 innings of one-hit relief to get the win. Mallory Meyer took the loss in relief.
