WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- A big inning late proved to be the difference Sunday as the Lawrence University baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision to Bowdoin College.
  The Polar Bears broke the game open by scoring five times in the eighth on only two hits as the Vikings handed out four walks and hit a batter in the frame.
  The Vikings had eight hits scattered throughout the lineup as no play had more than one hit for Lawrence (3-2).
Jacob Charon blasted his fourth homer of the season for the Vikings and drove in a pair of runs.
  Bowdoin (5-5) scored three times in the top of the third on Luke Chessie's three-run homer off starter
Cam Ruth.Â
  Lawrence came right back and tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Parker Knoll singled to start the rally and stole second.Â
Spenser Ross followed with a double to score Knoll. After a pair of outs, Charon belted a two-run homer to left, and the game was tied 3-3.
  Bowdoin added two runs in the fifth and one more in the seventh to edge out to a 6-3 lead. The Polar Bears put it away in the eighth with the help of four walks and a pair of run-scoring singles to take an 11-3 advantage.
  Baker Olin allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings to get the win. He struck out six and walked one. Ruth allowed eight hits and five runs over five innings and took the loss.
  Lawrence returns to action on Monday when it takes on SUNY-Cobleskill in a doubleheader.
