APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University softball team dropped a nonconference doubleheader to Mount Mary University on Tuesday at Whiting Field.
  Mount Mary won the opener 14-2 in five innings and took the second game 15-2 in five innings.
    In the opener, Mount Mary held a 6-2 lead and then busted out with eight runs in the fifth inning.Â
  Lawrence trailed 2-0 after the first, but the Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the second.
Xiomara Rueda-Marshall singled, and the Vikings loaded the bases when
Shelby Johnson was hit by a pitch and
Mikayla Jeneske singled.
Mary Boyle followed with a two-run single to knot the score at 2-2.
  The Blue Angels pulled ahead with three runs in the third and broke the game open in the fifth.Â
    In the second game, Mount Mary led 7-2 before sealing the victory with eight runs in the fifth inning.
  Lawrence (2-24) was limited to four hits, and included in that was a solo homer from Jeneske. McKinzie Alexus-Douglas went the distance and got the win for Mount Mary (9-15).
  Lawrence returns to action on Thursday when the Vikings host Knox College.
