MEQUON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 nonconference heartbreaker to Concordia University Wisconsin at Fitting Field.
The match was tied 1-1 when the Vikings were whistled for a foul in the box with just 59 seconds left. Concordia's Nick Hummel converted the penalty kick to give the Falcons the lead for good.
Lawrence did get one shot in the final 30 seconds but couldn't get the equalizer.
The Vikings grabbed the lead in the opening half when
Jack Morrissey took a pass from
Rodrigo Angulo and beat Concordia goalkeeper Mattson Wick at the 32:44 mark. It looked like the Vikings would take that lead into the locker room, but Carson Kelly scored with just 10 left in the opening half to tie the match at 1-1.
The score stayed that way until the penalty kick was awarded in the final minute.
  Lawrence rookie goalkeeper
Nason Lancina made eight saves for the Vikings.
