APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team lost 3-1 to Northland College in a nonconference match on Friday at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Northland won 25-10, 18-25, 25-22, 25-13 in a match that was part of the Lawrence Tournament.

Kylie Naylor paced Lawrence with eight kills and picked up three blocks.
Aliana Butler-Gray picked up five kills but was dominant at the net with eight blocks for the Vikings.
Hilirie McLaughlin added seven kills, two aces and eight digs for Lawrence.

Dana Mestey paced the Vikings with 24 assists and added 10 digs.

Daphne Piotrowski picked up 10 kills apiece for Lawrence.
  After dropping the opening set, Lawrence came out strong in the second. The Vikings rattled off eight consecutive points to turn a 12-9 deficit into a 17-12 advantage. Lawrence then eased away to win the set and even the match at 1-1.Â
  The third set was a back-and-forth affair, but the Vikings built a 22-18 advantage. Northland then scored the match's final seven points to pull out the win. The LumberJills then scored seven straight points midway through the fourth set to pull away and seal the victory.
  Lawrence returns to action at its own tournament Saturday with matches against Rockford University and Mount Mary University.
