Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lawrence edged by Foresters

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team was edged 2-1 by Lake Forest College on Saturday in a Midwest Conference match on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
The Foresters dodged some early bullets before building a 2-0 lead. The Vikings cut the lead in half midway through the second half but couldn't get the equalizer.
Lawrence had a pair of early chances with Konstantinos Fardellas in the middle of both. Lake Forest goalkeeper Szymon Mocarski misplayed a ball and Fardellas came up with it. Fardellas took it to the goal, but Mocarski was able to disrupt the play, and the Vikings were unable to cash in.
A short time later, Fardellas again found himself in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. Mocarski again came up big to deny the Vikings.
Lake Forest grabbed a 1-0 lead on Elliot Hull's goal at the 9:43 mark. The Foresters doubled the lead on Karl Weisenfeld's goal at 58:23 to make it 2-0.
Lawrence goalkeeper Nason Lancina also was superlative in net as he made multiple stellar saves. Lancina finished with 10 saves, and Mocarski had four for the Foresters (2-6-1, 1-0-0 MWC).
Lawrence (1-6-1, 0-1-0) sliced the lead in half in the 71st minute. Jack Morrissey played the ball into the box, and it found the head of AJ Shanahan, who beat Mocarski to trim the margin to 2-1 at 70:38.
Lake Forest kept the Vikings in check for the final 20 minutes and limited any real scoring chances.
