MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team missed a chance to close out the game in regulation Saturday, and Cornell College came back to post an 84-79 Midwest Conference victory at the Small Center.
  The Vikings led by four with 27 seconds left and missed the front end of a one-and-one and were still up by two and again missed the front end of a one-and-one with 17 seconds remaining.Â
  Cornell's Jordan Magnani scored to tie it at 70-70 and force overtime.
  The Vikings (6-11, 3-5 MWC) led early in the overtime when
Nick Hesch buried a 3-pointer, but a technical foul for a flop against Lawrence and five more free throws put Cornell up 76-73.

Matthew Kaznikov drilled a 3-pointer to tie it for the Vikings, but Jayden Meeker answered with a 3-pointer for Cornell. The Vikings closed to 79-77 on an
Elliot Jung free throw, but Cornell got back-to-back baskets, sandwiched around a Lawrence turnover, to take an 83-79 lead and seal the victory.
  Hesch came off the bench to score 20 points and added a team-high six rebounds for the Vikings. Kaznikov had 19 points as he went 5-for-9 from 3-point range.Â

Ryne Panzer added 12 points off the bench and was 2-for-4 from beyond the arc for Lawrence. Jung had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Vikings.Â
  Magnani led Cornell (6-10, 4-3) with 23 points.
