JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team got off to a good start Saturday and went on to post a 4-2 Midwest Conference victory over Illinois College at Green Athletic Field.
  Lawrence scored twice in the opening 12 minutes and led 3-2 at the half. The Vikings tacked on a second-half goal to get some breathing room in the victory.
  The Vikings got on the board at the 6:07 mark when
Kylie Melonis scored her third goal of the season for a 1-0 edge.
Cambrie Rickard doubled the lead when she scored for Lawrence at the 11:58 mark.
  Less than three minutes later, Illinois College scored to cut the lead in half.Â
  The Vikings pushed the lead back to two when
Ava Elders scored her first goal of the season off an assist from
Natalie Linebarger at the 41:25 mark. Illinois College then scored in the final seconds of the opening half to slice the lead to 3-2 at the break.
  Lawrence's
Sophia Morin restored the two-goal advantage when she scored from long range at the 65:36 mark.
  Lawrence posted a 19-6 edge in shots for the match.Â
  The Vikings improved to 3-1-1 in the conference and 4-5-3 overall.Â
