Second-half goal gives Vikings tie with Knox

APPLETON, Wis. -- A second-half goal from Zach Dale lifted the Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 1-1 Midwest Conference tie with Knox College on Saturday on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Dale scored in the 71st minute to tie the match, and both teams created chances to score in the final 15-plus minutes.
The game was scoreless at the half, but Knox's Tamar Thomas scored his first goal of the season at the 50:22 mark to give Knox a 1-0 lead.
Lawrence tied the score at 70:53, and the play started with a great pass to the box from Rodrigo Angulo. Angulo's pass found Dale, who headed it past Knox goalkeeper Nicolas Latzendorffer to even the score at 1-1.
Lawrence had a good scoring chance about 10 minutes later but couldn't cash in. Knox also had a great scoring chance, but it was Dale who broke up the play and cleared the ball away to stop the threat.
Ethan Uribe was rock solid in net for the Vikings and made eight saves. Lantzendorffer stopped three shots for Knox.
