APPLETON, Wis. --
Rodrigo Angulo's goal in the 88th minute Wednesday lifted the Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 1-1 tie with Ripon College in a Midwest Conference match on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Lawrence had multiple quality scoring chances but couldn't get the ball past Ripon goalkeeper Sam Jahnke, who finished the match with nine saves, until the final minutes. The Vikings posted an 18-12 edge in shots for the match.
The Vikings were pressuring Ripon when a Red Hawk defender cleared the ball away to the left of the goal mouth. Angulo was there for Lawrence and hit a rocket past Jahnke for the goal with just 2:14 remaining in the contest. It was Angulo's third goal of the season.
Ripon had taken a 1-0 lead on Eli Dietzel's goal in the 53rd minute.Â
  Lawrence goalkeeper
Nason Lancina made three saves for the Vikings and broke up a play well in front of the penalty box that could have been a prime scoring opportunity for the Red Hawks.
Lawrence wraps up its regular season on Saturday when it travels to Grinnell College.
