Vikings forge tie at Grinnell to finish regular season

    GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team posted a 1-1 Midwest Conference tie against Grinnell College on Saturday at Springer Field.
    This is round one for these two teams, who will face each other again on Friday, Nov. 3, in the semifinals of the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament at Lake Forest College.
    The Vikings got on the board first when rookie Ava Elders scored her third goal of the season off a pass from Natalie Linebarger at the 18:50 mark. Lawrence held that 1-0 lead into halftime as goalkeeper Ella Lysne made three saves in the opening half for the Vikings. 
    Grinnell tied the match in the sixth minute of the second half when Tali Berk scored at 51:58 and that's how it would end. 
    Lawrence's Audri Klionsky played in goal in the second half and made one save. Peyton Dixon made eight saves in the match for Grinnell.
    Lawrence had a 16-14 edge in shots for the match.
    The Vikings finished 6-5-4 in the regular season and posted a 5-1-2 record in Midwest Conference play. Grinnell is now 9-3-5 and went 5-0-3 in league play.
