Vikings drop series finale to Aurora

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence Unviersity men's hockey team got off to a strong start Saturday night, but Aurora University came back to post a 5-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory at the Appleton Ice Center.
Lawrence scored first just 6:22 into the opening period when Robby Pustulka tipped home Jack Michels' shot to give the Vikings a 1-0 advantage.
Aurora tied it with just 1:33 left in the first and then scored two times in the second to grab the advantage. Aurora scored two more times in the opening four minutes of the third period to pull away. Aurora had a good night on the power play as the Spartans went 2-for-5.
The Vikings added a power-play goal when Michels redirected Ethan Beaumont's shot into the goal. Miles McCue also picked up an assist on that goal. Lawrence finished 1-for-5 on the power play.
Nolan Mahaffey made 25 saves for the Vikings, and Jacob Mucitelli topped 21 shots for the Vikings.
