PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team missed a pair of shots in the final 10 seconds Saturday, and that allowed Lakeland University to hang on for a 76-73 nonconference victory at Woltzen Gymnasium.
  Lawrence trailed 74-73 when
Jake Fisher's jump hook in the lane caromed off the rim, and Cam Jaeger grabbed the rebound for the Muskies. Jaeger was fouled and made both free throws with five seconds remaining for a three-point lead, but the Vikings had one more opportunity.
The Vikings quickly moved the ball up the floor and
Nicholas Gouriotis got a good look at the basket. Gouriotis' 3-pointer hit the back iron, and Lakeland escaped with the win.
Fisher led Lawrence and all scorers with 19 points as he went 8-for-13 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range. Fisher also had five rebounds and a pair of assists.
Adnan Sarancic had a double-double for the Vikings with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Sarancic also went 8-for-13 from the floor and added four assists, a block and a steal.
 Â
Hogan Demovsky,
Matthew Kaznikov and Gouriotis added eight points apiece for the Vikings. Gouriotis also pulled down seven rebounds.
Lawrence trailed 41-31 at the half and were still down by 10 before rallying.
Nicolas Manzanera started the run with a layup and Fisher followed with a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 63-58. Sarancic then hit a jumper and Fisher drained another triple to cut the margin to 65-63.
Lawrence got as close as 67-66 before Lakeland pulled back out to a 74-66 advantage.
The Vikings rallied again as Demovsky drained a 3-pointer, and Sarancic followed with a layup to trim the margin to 74-71.
RJ Gamble then hit two free throws to cut the lead to 74-73 before the decisive final seconds.
Lawrence heads into Midwest Conference play on Tuesday against Beloit College still looking for its first win on the season.
