APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team rallied late against Beloit College on Tuesday but came up short in a 62-53 Midwest Conference setback to the Buccaneers at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Lawrence trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half but cut the lead to three in the final three minutes before Beloit pulled away.

Nicholas Gouriotis came off the bench to lead Lawrence with 13 points, and he grabbed six rebounds.
Matthew Kaznikov added 11 points and three rebounds for the Vikings, and
Hogan Demovsky had eight points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
  The Vikings were frigid from the floor in the opening half and hit just 9-of-30 shots, including 1-of-11 from 3-point range. Beloit shot 52.4 percent from the floor in the first half and went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. The Bucs pulled out to a 30-20 lead at the half.
  Lawrence was down 36-26, but the Vikings went on a 10-2 run. Kaznikov hit a 3-pointer and followed with a jumper before Gouriotis drained a triple and
Casey Schoenecker scored in the paint to cut the lead to 38-36.Â
  Beloit then stretched the lead back to 45-36, but the Vikings rallied again.
Jake Fisher started a scoring run with a 3-pointer and Gouriotis hit another 3-pointer before finishing the 11-5 burst with a layup to trim the margin to 50-47.
  The Bucs countered with a 9-1 run to pull out to a 59-48 lead, and Lawrence never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.
  Lawrence (0-6, 0-1 MWC) returns to league play when it travels to Grinnell on Saturday.Â
