GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team turned the ball over 37 times Saturday, and that led to an 89-58 Midwest Conference loss to Grinnell College at Darby Gymnasium.
Grinnell scored 41 points off the Lawrence turnovers and pulled away in the second half.Â
  Rookie
Casey Schoenecker led Lawrence with 18 points as he went 8-for-11 from the floor, and he pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
Nicholas Gouriotis added nine points for the Vikings, and
Adnan Sarancic had a game-high five assists.
Lawrence led by as many as six points in the opening half, the last time Gouriotis' putback to give the Vikings a 29-23 lead with 6:15 left in the first half. The Pioneers then went on a 22-6 run over the remainder of the opening half to build a 51-35 advantage at the half.
Lawrence never made a run at the Pioneers in the second half as the Vikings shot just 27.3 percent from the floor after the break. Grinnell wasn't much better at 28.6 percent, but turnovers prevented the Vikings from cutting into the deficit.
