ELMHURST, Ill. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team continued its extremely difficult nonconference schedule on Sunday with a 74-41 setback to No. 15 Elmhurst College.
  The Vikings hung with unbeaten Elmhurst until the Bluejays pulled away midway through the second half.

Casey Schoenecker,
Matthew Kaznikov and
Adnan Sarancic led the Vikings with nine points apiece. Schoenecker went 4-for-6 from the floor and added three rebounds. Sarancic,
Carson Nichols and and
Hogan Demovsky led the Vikings (1-11) with four rebounds apiece.
  Lawrence, playing its third ranked opponent in the last eight days, continued its shooting struggles from beyond the 3-point line. The Vikings went 0-for-13 from beyond the arc.
  The Vikings trailed by as many as 10 points in the opening half before jumpers from Kaznikov and Nichols trimmed the lead to 24-18. Lawrence was later down by nine before a pair of
Jake Fisher free throws cut the margin to 30-23 at the half.
  Lawrence was hanging with the Bluejays and trailed 36-25 after a Schoenecker layup with 16:22 left in the game. The Bluejays followed with an 11-5 run to push the lead to 49-30 with 11:14 remaining. The Vikings never got closer than 17 the rest of the way as Elmhurst expanded the margin over the final minutes. Â
  Dominic Trelenberg led Elmhurst, which improved to 9-0, with 11 points.
