Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Big early deficit too much for Vikings to overcome

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team couldn't dig out of a big early hole Wednesday and dropped a 72-58 Midwest Conference decision to Knox College at Alexander Gymnasium.
Lawrence fell behind 14-2 to start the game, and the Vikings trailed by as many as 23 points in the opening half.
The Vikings shot a frigid 33.3 percent (9-27) from the floor in the opening half while Knox went 18-for-32 (56.3 percent) in the opening 20 minutes.
Matthew Kaznikov led Lawrence (0-8, 0-3 MWC) with 13 points, and Casey Schoenecker and Liam Graham added 10 points apiece for the Vikings.
The Vikings were down by as many as 25 points early in the second half, but Lawrence chipped away at the lead. Lawrence cut the margin to 62-48 with 6:08 left, but that's as close as the Vikings would get. Knox scored the next five points, and the Vikings couldn't get closer than 16 points after that.
Andrew Milot led Knox (4-3, 1-1) with 20 points and was one of four Knox players in double figures.
