APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dominated long stretches of Saturday's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Appleton Ice Center, but Lake Forest College emerged with a 3-2 victory.
  The Vikings posted a 37-20 edge in shots for the game, and that included a 17-2 Lawrence advantage in shots on goal in the opening period.Â
  Despite the first-period dominance by the Vikings, the game was scoreless heading to the second period.Â
  Lawrence had just killed off a two-man advantage for Lake Forest when the Vikings got their first goal.
Cody Brekke scored off assists from
Carter Cloutier and
Ethan Beaumont at the 5:40 mark of the second for a 1-0 lead.
  Lake Forest quickly tied the game on Ryan Antonakis just 28 seconds later.
  The Foresters took a 2-1 lead on Colin Bella's goal at the 2:05 mark of the third. Lawrence came back to tie it after Lake Forest's Tyler Nielsen was sent off for interference at the 10:42 mark.
  The Vikings got a great setup off a face-off, and
Cole Schneider scored at 11:08 to tie the game at 2-2.
Cory Checco and Cloutier both picked up assists on Schneider's goal.
  Bella gave Lake Forest the lead for good when he scored with just 1:34 left. The Vikings pulled goaltender
Nolan Mahaffey in the final minute but were unable to score.
  Mahaffey made 17 saves for Lawrence, and Kohl Reddy stopped 35 shots for the Foresters.
