Vikings fall to unbeaten UWSP

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team dropped a 72-42 nonconference decision to unbeaten UW-Stevens Point on Thursday at Berg Gymnasium.
The Pointers, who improved to 9-0, jumped ahead early and steadily pulled away. Lawrence dropped to 8-5 on the season.
Maggie Culver and Charlotte Brennan led the way for the Vikings with nine points apiece. Culver also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
The Vikings had a tough shooting night as they went just 12-for-47 from the floor (25.5 percent), and that included hitting 3-for-17 (17.6 percent) from beyond the 3-point line.
Stevens Point built a 10-point lead at 14-4 less than eight minutes into the game and would go on to lead 34-16 at the half. Lawrence never got closer than 16 points in the second half.
Lawrence doesn't return to action until Jan. 3 when the Vikings travel to Monmouth College for a Midwest Conference game.
