MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team saw a 15-point, fourth-quarter lead nearly disappear completely Wednesday at Monmouth College, but the Vikings held on for a 62-60 Midwest Conference victory at Glennie Gymnasium.

Charlotte Brennan led Lawrence (9-5, 3-2 MWC) and all scorers with 17 points, and she added four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
Libby Crandall added 11 points for the Vikings as she went 3-for-6 from 3-point range.

Sophie Morey came off the bench for the Vikings and finished with nine points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Lydia Lueck chipped in with seven points, and
Mallory Meyer and
Karly Beck had six points apiece for Lawrence.
  Lawrence edged away in the final minutes of the second quarter. The Vikings went on an 11-2 run over the final 4:00 of the first half. Brennan and Beck scored four points apiece in that stretch, and Crandall added a 3-pointer as Lawrence led 35-28 at the half.
  The Vikings built that lead to 54-38 late in the third quarter after Crandall hit a 3-pointer and
Taylor Svoboda followed with a jumper. Lawrence led by 14 heading into the fourth quarter.
  Brennan's layup gave Lawrence a 57-42 lead with 8:07 left in the game before the Scots mounted a comeback. Monmouth scored eight consecutive points before Morey's fastbreak layup gave Lawrence a 59-50 lead with 3:59 remaining.
  The Scots then went on an 8-1 run, capped by Ella Goodrich's 3-pointer, to cut the lead to 60-58 with 1:52 left.Â
  Brennan answered with a driving layup to put the Vikings up 62-58, but Monmouth got a pair of free throws to cut the lead back to 62-60 with 1:02 left.Â
  Lawrence then missed three shots in the paint before Monmouth finally was able to grab a rebound with less than 30 seconds left. The Scots got the ball to Goodrich, who missed a 3-pointer. Monmouth's Ashley Jones grabbed the offensive rebound but her short jumper was off the mark, and Morey grabbed the rebound for Lawrence with two seconds left to seal the win.Â
    Goodrich led Monmouth (2-11, 0-4) with 15 points.
  Lawrence won despite a massive discrepancy at the foul line. Lawrence was just 7-for-12 from the stripe while Monmouth went 21-for-30.Â
