ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team allowed three first-period goals Friday, and that was all the scoring in the Vikings' 3-0 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association setback to Trine University at Thunder Ice Arena.
Trine scored three goals in a span of less than eight minutes in the first period. The Thunder also went 2-for-2 on the power play in that stretch and those were the only power plays in the game that saw only four penalties whistled.
Chace McCardle scored on the power play at 8:42 and Garrett Hallford added another power-play goal at 11:33 for a 2-0 lead. Bobby Price then scored at 16:17 of the first to complete the scoring.

Owen Carlson made the start and picked up 17 saves for the Vikings.
Brian Tallieu came on in relief and stopped 27 shots for Lawrence (4-18-2, 3-13-1 NCHA). Kyle Kozma made 22 saves to get the win for Trine (16-7-1, 11-6-0).
The teams wrap up the series on Saturday.Â
