Lodes scores four times as Vikings top Concordia

APPLETON, Wis. -- Zach Lodes scored four times Saturday night to lead the Lawrence University men's hockey team to a 5-3 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win over Concordia University Wisconsin at the Appleton Ice Center.
Lodes scored the final four goals of the game for the Vikings as they rallied from three one-goal deficits to earn the victory on Senior Night.
Ivan Galaguzov and Kyle Gierman both had a pair of assists, and Jayden Jensen had two points with a goal and an assist.
Lawrence (4-17-2, 3-13-1 NCHA) trailed 1-0 early in the second period, but Jensen scored on the power play off assists from Gierman and Cory Checco to tie the game at 1-1 at the 9:58 mark.
Concordia (4-19-0, 4-12-0) grabbed the lead back less than a minute later and led 2-1 heading to the third period.
Lodes got the score back to even early in the third period when he forced a turnover and beat Concordia goaltender Gabe Rosek at the 2:41 mark for the 2-2 tie.
The Falcons took the lead back at the 5:06 mark but that didn't last long.
Lawrence scored just eight seconds later when Lodes got his second goal of the night off assists from Galaguzov and Zack Olen to tie the game at 3-3.
The score stayed that way until the final minutes when Lodes got the hat trick with a goal for a 4-3 lead at the 17:15 mark with Galaguzov and Gierman both picking up assists. It was the second hat trick of the season for Lodes, who scored a school-record five goals earlier this season.
Lodes then sealed the victory with an empty-net goal off an assist from Jensen with 41 seconds remaining.
Lawrence goaltender Brian Tallieu got the win as he made 16 saves. Rosek stopped 35 shots for the Falcons.
Lawrence piled up a 40-19 advantage in shots as the Vikings held Concordia to just seven shots in the first period, eight in the second and four in the third.
