Box Score 2 Â Â JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- Lawrence University baseball standout
Quinn Berglin fired a one-hitter Saturday to lead the Vikings to a Midwest Conference doubleheader split at Illinois College.
  Berglin pitched Lawrence to a 5-1 victory in the opener, and Illinois College won the nightcap 16-6 in seven innings.
  Berglin improved to 2-0 on the season with the complete-game effort. He struck out nine and walked two and allowed only a fourth-inning single. Berglin retired 11 straight at one point and only one Illinois College runner advanced past second base.
  Berglin's one-hitter is the first since Josh Richie fired a one-hitter against Fredonia State University on March 25, 2006.Â

William Polanco went 2-for-4 with the first two homers of his Lawrence career, two runs scored and two runs batted in for the.
Jacob Charon had a triple and drove in a pair of runs, and
Taylor Freeman picked up a double for Lawrence (8-14, 4-7 MWC).
  Polanco got the scoring started with a solo homer in the third before Illinois College tied it at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth. Polanco answered back for the Vikings when he hit a two-out, solo blast in the fifth to put the Vikings ahead for good at 2-1.
  A pair of errors got the Vikings going in the sixth, and Charon followed with a triple to score
Mitchell Sandleback and
Edan Perez to put the Vikings up 4-1. Freeman then followed with a double to score Charon and give the Vikings a 5-1 advantage.
  After Lawrence's rally in the sixth, Berglin retired the next seven hitters to shut the door.Â
  In the second game, Lawrence smacked three homers, but Illinois College scored in the final six innings and took advantage of free passes by the Vikings. Of the 11 batters walked or hit, seven came around to score for Illinois College (9-18, 5-6).
  Berglin went 2-for-4 as the designated hitter in the nightcap with a homer and RBIs.
Parker Knoll went 2-for-4 and scored a run, and Perez was 2-for-4. Charon hit his sixth homer of the season, a two-run blast in the first, and drove in a pair of runs.
Nick Heerde hit his first career homer, a solo shot in the seventh, for the Vikings.

Cam Ruth made the start for the Vikings but couldn't get out of the third and took the loss. He allowed five runs on four hits.Â
  The teams wrap up the three-game series on Sunday.
