APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University baseball team led early Tuesday, but Beloit College put together a nine-run fifth inning en route to a 16-6 Midwest Conference victory at Whiting Field.
Lawrence had pulled ahead 6-5 after a wild fourth inning, but the Bucs scored nine runs on just five hits in the fifth to pull away.
 Â
Parker Knoll went 4-for-4 and scored a pair of runs for the Vikings (10-19, 6-12 MWC), and he was the only Lawrence player with more than one hit.
Luke Miles hit his second career, homer, a three-run blast, for the Vikings, and
Edan Perez drove in a pair of runs.
Lawrence built a 3-1 lead through three innings as Knoll scored twice, and Perez picked up a run-scoring single. Lawrence then walked three batters in the fourth, and Connor Vogel hit a grand slam, the only hit of the inning, to give Beloit a 5-3 lead.
The Vikings came right back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.
William Polanco walked and
William Zatkowski was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Miles then launched a ball over the fence in left to give Lawrence a 6-5 edge.
Beloit (23-10, 15-3) then parlayed five hits, five walks and a hit batsman into nine runs in the fifth to take a 14-6 lead.Â
Aiden Phipps went six innings and allowed six runs but improved to 8-0 on the season.
Elden Santana came on in relief of
Michael Duttlinger in the fifth and took the loss.Â
Beloit took two of three in the three-game series against the Vikings, who return to action Thursday when they host UW-Stevens Point.
