APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dropped an 8-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association decision to No. 5 Adrian College on Friday at the Appleton Ice Center.
  The Bulldogs broke open a close game with four goals in the second period and went 3-for-5 on the power play.
  Lawrence (3-11-1, 2-6-1 NCHA) got both of its goals from senior forward
Jack Michels and
PJ Noonan collected a pair of assists.
  Adrian (11-4-1, 8-1-0) scored just 2:03 into the game, but Lawrence tied it at the 9:10 mark on Michels' fifth goal of the season. The Bulldogs scored with just over six minutes remaining in the period to take a 2-1 lead heading to the second.
  Adrian went 2-for-2 on the power play in the second period and added two more goals to take a 6-1 advantage into the third period.
  Lawrence came out strong to start the third, and Michels scored off assists from Noonan and
Jeb Dee to trim the lead to 6-2 with 12:11 remaining. The Bulldogs then scored on the power play and added another goal just after the penalty expired for the final margin.

Nolan Mahaffey made a career-high 54 saves for the Vikings, and Dershahn Stewart stopped 19 shots for Adrian.
  The teams wrap up the series on Saturday afternoon.
