APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team scored three goals in the span of a minute in the second period Tuesday and powered to a 6-4 nonconference win over Saint Mary's (Minn.) University at the Appleton Ice Center.
  The Vikings scored three times in a span of 1:03 to seize control of the game and built a 5-0 lead. Saint Mary's mounted a third-period comeback before a late goal sealed the victory for Lawrence (4-12-1).
  Lawrence sophomore goaltender
Ken Turelli, making his first collegiate start, stopped 20 shots to earn the victory. A.J. Ruskowski stopped 31 shots and took the loss for the Cardinals (5-10-2).
  The Vikings started the game with a flurry of first-time goal scorers. Lawrence took a 1-0 lead on
Adam Brzezicki's first collegiate goal at the 13:03 mark of the first.
Miles McCue and
Cole Schneider picked up assists on the game's first goal.
  Lawrence's scoring outburst in the second started with
Jacob Jakusz's first collegiate goal off a pass from
Oliver DeCroock just 44 seconds into the period.
Evan Izenstark then scored his first collegiate goal just 35 seconds later off passes from
Ethan Beaumont and
Carter Cloutier for a 3-0 lead.
  The Vikings made it 4-0 at the 1:47 mark of the second when
Jayden Jensen scored off assists from
Jack Michels and
Cody Brekke. The Vikings pushed the lead to 5-0 when Jensen scored on the power play at the 7:57 mark with assists going to Schneider and Cloutier.
  Lawrence led 5-1 heading to the third period, but the Cardinals scored two goals in less than a minute and then added an extra-attacker goal with 2:21 left to trim the lead to 5-4.
  With Ruskowski out of the Saint Mary's net, the Vikings sealed the victory with Beaumont's empty-netter with just 26 seconds left.Â
  Lawrence had a 37-24 edge in shots for the game, and the Vikings went 1-for-3 on the power play. Saint Mary's finished 2-for-6 on the man-advantage.
  Lawrence returns to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play when it travels to Dubuque University for a two-game series this weekend.Â
