DUBUQUE, Iowa --
Cory Checco scored in overtime Friday to lift the Lawrence University men's hockey team to a 2-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association victory over the University of Dubuque at ImOn Arena.
  Checco scored the game-winner, his sixth goal of the season, with 1:01 left in overtime off passes from
Miles McCue and
Cole Schneider. Lawrence dominated the overtime with six shots on goal, compared to one for Dubuque.
  Rookie goaltender
Nolan Mahaffey picked up the win for Lawrence (5-12-1, 3-7-1 NCHA) as he stopped 27 shots. Chris Curr took the loss and made 33 saves for Dubuque (1-14-2, 1-10-0).
  Lawrence jumped on top at the 13:22 mark of the opening period when
Ethan Beaumont scored his fourth goal of the season off assists by
Carter Cloutier and
Max Breon. The Spartans tied it up on Max Erstad's goal at the 17:46 mark of the first.
  The score stayed that way until Checco tallied the game-winner in overtime.
  The teams went a combined 0-for-11 on the power play as Lawrence didn't score on its four attempts, and Dubuque came up empty seven times on the man-advantage.
