APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team put on an impressive defensive performance Saturday and rolled to a 66-49 Midwest Conference victory over Monmouth College at Alexander Gymnasium.
  The Vikings never trailed and held Monmouth to 24 percent shooting for the game, including 29.2 percent from beyond the arc.Â
  Lawrence shot a sparkling 54.9 percent from the floor for the game, and that included hitting 50 percent from 3-point range.

Casey Schoenecker was one of four Vikings in double figures and led all scorers with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the floor. Schoenecker also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to go with two blocks and two assists.
Adnan Sarancic and
Nicolas Manzanera added 13 points apiece for Lawrence (4-14, 2-7 MWC). Manzanera went 5-for-6 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Both Sarancic and Manzanera had a game-high four assists apiece.Â

Hogan Demovsky also was in double figures for the Vikings with 10 points, and
Jake Fisher added eight points and three assists.
  Fisher got the first basket of the game, and the Vikings hardly looked back. Lawrence scored the first 10 points of the game and led 30-24 at the half.
  Demovsky scored on a layup to start the second half and Sarancic then buried a 3-pointer.
Nicholas Gouriotis followed with a layup to give Lawrence a 37-24 edge. The Scots chipped away at the lead and closed to eight points several times, the last at 53-45 with 4:19 remaining.
  The Vikings then sealed the victory with 11 consecutive points. Demovsky drained a 3-pointer and Schoenecker scored on a layup and added a pair of free throws to push the margin to 60-45. Sarancic's layup and another layup from Demovsky put the Vikings up 64-45 with 1:34 left.Â
  Jason Huber came off the bench to lead Monmouth (11-7, 5-4) with nine points.Â
