APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team built a double-digit lead heading to the fourth quarter Saturday and then had to hold off a determined Monmouth College team to post a 60-56 Midwest Conference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.

Mallory Meyer led three Vikings in double figures with 16 points as she went 6-for-12 from the floor.
Libby Crandall added 13 points for Lawrence (11-7, 5-4 MWC) as she drained a trifecta of 3-pointers.

Charlotte Brennan had a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 assists to go with four rebounds.Â
  The Vikings led 31-27 at the half and started to pull away late in the third quarter.
Caroline Sharpe drained a 3-pointer and
Sophie Morey and Meyer both followed with a layups for a 46-33 edge. The Scots would trim the margin back to 48-41, but Meyer scored in the paint, and Brennan's driving layup gave Lawrence a 52-41 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
  Lawrence went cold in the fourth quarter, and Monmouth chipped away at the lead. The Scots scored six consecutive points to pull to 55-54 with 3:38 remaining.Â
  Crandall scored inside to give the Vikings a 57-54 edge, and Monmouth then turned the ball over and missed its next three shots from the floor. The Scots got two free throws from Ashley Jones to cut the lead to 57-56 with 45 seconds left.
  After a Lawrence miss, the Scots were fouled but missed both free throws. Forced to foul, Monmouth put Meyer on the line and she made one free throw for a 58-56 lead with 25 seconds left.Â
  The Scots missed a 3-pointer and Crandall pulled down the rebound. Meyer was fouled again and drained two free throws with 5.1 seconds left to seal the victory. Â
  The win completed Lawrence's season sweep of the Scots, and that marks the first time the Vikings have swept Monmouth since the 2006-07 campaign.
  Jadyn Mitchell led Monmouth (2-16, 0-9) with 18 points.
