APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team put together another gritty Midwest Conference victory Saturday with a 62-59 overtime triumph over Grinnell College at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Lawrence led by as many as 12 points in the second half but had to hit some key free throws to force overtime. The Vikings then clamped down defensively in the overtime to get the win and sweep the season series from Grinnell for the first time since 2005-06.Â

Mallory Meyer paced Lawrence (10-5, 4-2 MWC) with 17 points, and she grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Maggie Culver added 12 points and six rebounds for the Vikings, and
Nikola Kuzmanovic also had 12 points and picked up three rebounds and three assists.
Sophie Morey came off the bench to add eight points on 4-of-6 shooting while picking up five rebounds for the Vikings.
  Lawrence led 44-32 late in the third quarter, but the Pioneers (8-6, 3-3) chipped away and took a 53-52 lead on a pair of free throws with 2:43 left in regulation. After a Lawrence turnover, Grace Marsh's putback gave Grinnell a 55-52 lead.Â
  Culver was fouled on a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession and made two free throws to trim the lead to 55-54 with 44 seconds left. The teams traded missed shots before the Vikings got the ball back on a jump ball. Meyer was fouled with 12 seconds left and made one free throw to tie it at 55-55. Grinnell's Nikki Ware was whistled for an offensive foul with three seconds left, and the game went to overtime.
  Culver opened the scoring in the overtime by drilling a 3-pointer to give Lawrence a 58-55 lead. Grinnell had multiple opportunities at the foul line but converted just 4-of-10 attempts to take a 59-58 lead with 1:15 left in overtime.

Charlotte Brennan, who had a game-high five assists, got her only basket of the game for Lawrence on a driving layup with 43 seconds remaining to give the Vikings a 60-59 lead. After Sara Booher missed in the line for Grinnell, the Pioneers fouled Culver with seconds left. She made both free throws for a 62-59 edge.
  Grinnell called timeout and advanced the ball to the frontcourt, but Carolyn Pierce's 3-pointer was off the mark at the buzzer.
  Lawrence shut down the Pioneers in the overtime as the Pioneers went 0-for-7 from the floor. Grinnell shot just 30 percent fro the game, including 25 percent from beyond the arc. Booher led Grinnell with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.
  The Vikings went 25-for-67 (37.3 percent) from the floor and had a 48-41 edge on the glass.   Â
