APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team dropped a tight 2-1 Midwest Conference decision to Lake Forest College on Saturday on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Trailing late in the contest, Lawrence (2-7-4, 1-1-2 MWC) put some serious pressure on the Foresters (4-6-3, 3-0-1) in the final minutes.Â
Lake Forest goalkeeper Andrew Swacha deflected a rocket off the foot of
Emiliano Garcia Fadanalli, and the ball then ricocheted off the crossbar. A short time later, a cross skimmed off the head of a Lawrence player and went just wide of the net.Â
The Vikings trailed 2-0 early in the second half after a goal from Nico Lombardo, but Lawrence quickly cut the lead in half.Â
 Â
Rodrigo Angulo took a free kick from just outside the Lake Forest penalty box, played it over the wall and tucked it into the upper corner of the goal for his third goal of the season at the 53:39 mark.
 Â
Ethan Uribe made nine saves, including several of the spectacular variety, for the Vikings. Swacha finished with four saves for Lake Forest.
Lawrence doesn't play again until Oct. 19 when the Vikings host Illinois College.
