Vikings shut out by La Crosse

    APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team ran into a tough squad from UW-La Crosse on Tuesday and dropped a 5-0 nonconference decision to the Eagles on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
    La Crosse (9-3-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then tacked on another goal with less than four minutes remaining for a 3-0 advantage at the break. La Crosse then scored twice in the last 13 minutes for the final margin.
    Lawrence goalkeeper Ella Lysne made 14 saves in the first 77:14, and Evelyn Apel made one save for the Eagles, one of the top teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
    Lawrence (8-4-2), which saw its six-game unbeaten streak come to an end, returns to action on Saturday when the Vikings host Illinois College in a Midwest Conference game.
