BELOIT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University swim and dive teams swept a dual meet from Beloit College on Saturday at Nicholls Natatorium.
The Lawrence women won 121-103, and the Lawrence men cruised to a 124-26 victory.
"We haven't had time to practice with wedged starting blocks as ours were being installed this week," Lawrence coach Jody Riskowski said. "Next week, with the new blocks, we can spend some time focusing on starts and relay exchanges, which will really help the sprints and relays be even stronger."
The Vikings had several multiple-event winners on both sides.
   Â
Will Phillips took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.44 seconds and swam to victory in the 100 freestyle in 49.58 seconds.Â
Michael Thorson won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:44.88 and swam to first in the 100 backstroke in 58.72 seconds.
   Â
Keegan Mencke took two firsts as he grabbed the top spot in the 200 individual medley in 2:09.33 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:26.99.Â
Jackson Bertman swept the diving for the Vikings. Bertman was first on the 1-meter board with a score of 261.80, and took first on the 3-meter board with a score of 263.35.
"It was a great meet for diving, and the first opportunity for 3-meter, so they're getting back into the full slate of events," Riskowski said. "Olivia (Martin) is working through an injury, and it was a very gutsy 3-meter dive performance. Jackson was spot-on and looking to break the six-dive record."
   Â
Sebastian Stacey grabbed first in the 100 butterfly in 58.42 seconds, and
Wiley Curtis was first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.73.Â
