GALESBURG, Ill. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team clinched a berth in the Midwest Conference Tournament on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Knox College at Jorge Prats Field.
Lawrence got two goals apiece from
Maya Alberts and
Cambrie Rickard while limiting the Prairie Fire to just four shots.
The Vikings (11-4-2, 5-0-1 MWC) got on the board early and then struck again almost immediately.
 Â
Maya Alberts scored off an assist from
Natalie Linebarger at the 14:05 mark for a 1-0 edge. Alberts then scored her seventh goal of the season off an assist from
Hannah Kalt and Linebarger at the 17:41 mark, and the Vikings led 2-0.
The Vikings took that two-goal lead into the second half, but Rickard scored quickly in the second half. Rickard scored off a pass from Linebarger at the 51:11 mark for a 3-0 advantage. Rickard scored again at the 78:06 mark for her seventh goal of the season.
The three assists from Linebarger pushed her season total to 12, which broke the school record of 11 set by Katherine Bugby back in 1986 and leads the Midwest Conference.
 Â
Ella Lysne made two saves to record the shutout for the Vikings. Darby Wallig stopped 12 shots for the Prairie Fire (1-12-2, 0-5-1). Lawrence had a 21-4 edge in shots for the match.
With the win, Lawrence earned a spot in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament. The Vikings will be playing in the league tournament for the third time in four seasons.
