Vikings battle to tie with Cornell

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's soccer team scored late Saturday to grab a 1-1 Midwest Conference with Cornell College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Rodrigo Angulo scored in the 76th minute to give the Vikings a tie, and Aidan Greer narrowly missed a chance to win it for Lawrence in the final 10 minutes.
Angulo's goal came after a flurry in front of the Cornell net following a free kick. Emiliano Garcia Fadanalli's shot hit the crossbar, and Angulo jumped on the rebound and found the back of the net to tie the match at the 75:47 mark.
Cornell had taken the lead on Aidan Lerch's goal at the 49:11 mark.
Nason Lancina made four saves for the Vikings (1-6-4, 0-0-2 MWC). Jeremy Spina made two saves for Cornell ((3-6-1, 1-0-1).
Cornell had a 10-8 advantage in shots for the match, but the Rams played a man down for the final 12 minutes after Sam Burmeister received a red card.
Lawrence returns to action on Wednesday when the Vikings travel to Beloit College.
