APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team kept their scoreless streak rolling on Saturday with a 3-0 Midwest Conference victory over Cornell College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Lawrence scored twice in the opening half and sealed the victory with a second-half goal to run its win streak to four matches. All four of those victories have come via shutout as Lawrence (7-3-1, 2-0-0 MWC) has outscored its opponents 13-0 during the last four contests. The Vikings haven't allowed a goal for more than 370 minutes.
The Vikings got on the board just 3:18 into the match when
Cambrie Rickard scored off passes from
Hannah Kalt and
Kylie Melonis and found the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage.Â
Lawrence could have done more damage in the first half as the Vikings applied serious pressure to the Rams. Cornell goalkeeper Sabrina Ibanez kept the Rams in the game with eight saves in the opening half.
The Vikings did find the back of the net shortly before halftime when
Maya Alberts scored her fourth goal of the season. Alberts redirected a ball from
Izzy Robertson with just 26 seconds left in the half for a 2-0 lead.
Melonis then punched in a shot past Ibanez at the 51:11 mark off a pass from
Kate Noonan to give Lawrence a three-goal advantage.
 Â
Ella Lysne was forced to make only one save for the Vikings in the first 85 minutes before giving way to
Rebecca Wolfe. Ibanez made 12 saves for Cornell (1-9-0, 0-2-0).
Lawrence returns to action on Tuesday when the Vikings travel to Beloit College.
