Relay team breaks school record at Dick Hendricks Invitational

    RIPON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's 4x200-meter relay team broke a 19-year-old school record Saturday at the Dick Hendricks Invitational at the Willmore Center.
    The team of Marcus Jackson, Tristan Zook, Brendan Cross and David Benjamin raced to victory in the 4x200 in 1:33.59. That broke the Lawrence record of 1:33.78 set back in 2005. Led by the victory in the relay, the Lawrence men were sixth in the team standings with 47 points.
    Lawrence also collected two more victories, including a win in the women's 4x400 relay. The team of Ella Fajardo-Wilde, Gabby Skorczewski, Berkeley Krell and Lilia Bodar raced to the win in 4:13.09. 
    It was the second win of the day for Krell, who also grabbed the top spot in the 800 meters. Krell led a 1-2 Lawrence finish in the 800 as she crossed the line in 2:28.63. Skorczewski was right on her heels in second place at 2:29.03.
    Among the distance runners, Cristyn Oliver and Jane Partsch both grabbed second-place finishes. Partsch led a parade of four Lawrence runners in the top six in the 5,000 meters. Partsch took second in 19:45.88, and Althea Foster was fourth in 20:12.79. Natalie Anderson raced to fifth place in 20:17.67, and Jasmine Moldenhauer grabbed sixth place in 20:46.65.
    Oliver was second in the 3,000 as she finished in 10:37.41 and was one of three Lawrence runners in the top five. Edythmae Frodl raced to fourth place in 10:47.33, and Riley Winebrenner was fifth in 10:53.48.
    Lawrence other top finisher on the women's side was Bodnar, who was sixth in the 400 in 1:03.47.
    The Lawrence women grabbed fifth place in the team standings with 71 points.
    On the men's side, Kala Velasco was the top individual finisher as he grabbed second place in 8.85 seconds. 
    The men's 4x400 relay team of Jackson, Cross, Zook and Alex Luckett raced to second place in 3:36.44.
    Finn Lee led the men's distance runners as he took fourth in the 5,000 in 15:19.85. Thomas Popoca raced to fifth in the 3,000 in 9:12.60, and teammate Sam Brewer was sixth in 9:13.79.
    Leo Hagberg leaped to sixth place in the triple jump with a distance of 40 feet, 5 inches. Greyson Schneider posted an eighth place in the pole vault with a height of 12-11.
