APPLETON, Wis. --
Finn Lee grabbed all-conference honors in the 10,000 meters Friday to lead the Lawrence University track and field teams on the first day of the Midwest Conference Championships at Whiting Field.
  Lee placed third in the men's 10,000 with a time of 32:28.34 to receive the all-conference nod. Teammate
Sam Brewer was close behind as he took fourth in 32:36.02.
  In the women's 10,000, Edythmae Frodl raced to fourth place in a time of 40:56.45.
  The Vikings placed four runners in the 1,500, two each in the men's and women's races. On the women's side, Mila Westra took fourth with a time of 4:46.99, and Cristyn Oliver was sixth in 4:47.71. In the men's event,
Ryan Cassiday was sixth in 3:59.47, and
Nick Hansen was hot on his heels as he took seventh in 4:00.40.
  Lawrence also placed three competitors in the pole vault. On the men's side,
Werner Norrbom took fourth place with a height of 11 feet, 1.75 inches. Clara Lyford led the women as she took sixth at 7-8.5, and Alice Gorinshteyn was eighth at 7-2.5.
  Three other placed in their field events on Friday.
Tristan Zook took fifth in the men's long jump with a leap of 21-10.25, and
Will Eggert was seventh in the javelin with a throw of 139-7. Greta Vianden placed eighth in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 132-0.
  The Lawrence men are in fifth place with 27 points, and Ripon College leads the team standings with 49 points. The Lawrence women are in sixth place with 18 points, and Monmouth College leads the way with 67 points.
  The championships have another full day of competition on Saturday.
